I started writing articles and short stories in 1989, then branched into book-length fiction. My first novel, Calm Before the Storm, was published in 2002 as the first of a three-book series. Eye of the Storm and Out of the Storm followed in 2003 & 2004 to complete the series. Although these books are still available from a few bookstores online, they are officially out of print. I plan to re-release them soon—both print and digital versions—under my own imprint: Tansy & Thistle Press.
Early in 2016, I reclaimed the rights to my fourth historical novel, Other Side of the River, and released the second edition with a new cover in both digital and print versions, independently published under my own company: Tansy & Thistle Press. Other Side of the River is the story of a group of Mennonites from western Siberia who fled eastward to the borders of China to escape the clutches of Stalin’s regime.
This is the first book in the In Search of Freedom series.
The sequel to Other Side of the River was released in January of 2017: In a Foreign Land. It follows some of the characters of the first book through their sojourn in northern China after the second world war.
This is the second book in the In Search of Freedom series.
The third and final book in this series, Far Side of the Sea, is in the works. I hope to publish it in late 2017, but we shall see.
I wrote a contemporary short story (10K) and released it for Christmas 2016. The title is The Christmas Sweater.
Also in the works is a completed contemporary cozy fiction titled The Road to Happenstance. I’ve really enjoyed working on this one, and I’ll let you know as soon as it’s ready for you.
As well, I was honored to be part of a team of six Canadian authors who contributed devotional pieces to Uplifting Devotionals III. My portion of this book is called Moments in the Word.
